Handicap Scooter Used In Attempted Ashland Walmart Theft

ASHLAND, OH- Ashland Police Department officers responded to a 911 call from the Ashland Walmart on U.S. Route 250 on Saturday afternoon.

A man riding in a handicap scooter was allegedly attempting to shoplift.

According to scanner traffic, the male was caught on Closed Circuit TV video taking a television earlier in the week.

Officers approached the man as he was riding out through the doors.

Among the items the man attempted to take was a fish tank.

Jeffrey Bates was taken into custody for petty theft.

More information has been requested from the Ashland Police Department.
