MANSFIELD, OH- Main Street Books in Mansfield held their monthly Borderlands: Poetry on the Edge event on Saturday afternoon.

The event normally features two Ohio poets and then allows guests to read their own poetry at a brief open mic.

February's event was entirely an open mic, allowing local poets to share their work according to Main Street Books Manager, Llalan Fowler.

"We just like to give everyone in the community a voice and a chance to share their work," Fowler said.  "We have a lot of poetry appreciators and a lot of people who are just poets on the sly and like to read their stuff and share it with everyone else in the community," Fowler said.

Borderlands: Poetry on the Edge typically takes place on the third Saturday of every month at Main Street Books at 104 N. Main Street in Mansfield.  The poetry readings serve as a way to bring the community into the bookstore according to Fowler.

"We like to bring people into the bookstore and show them what we have and we really feel the bookstore is more of a community space rather than just a retail space and we like to do as much as we can for the area," Fowler said.
