MANSFIELD, OH- The Kiwanis Club of Mansfield hosted their annual Pancake Breakfast at the Richland County Fairgrounds on Saturday.

The event raised money for the youth projects of the Mansfield Kiwanis Club according to Kiwanis Club of Mansfield Treasurer, John Grove.

"We are hoping to serve about 700 people pancakes today and actually they have a choice of pancakes and sausage or biscuits and sausage gravy," Grove said.

The breakfast was run by volunteers from the Kiwanis Club as well as students from local school Key Clubs.

"We have the Kiwanians in the kitchen and we have Key Clubs.  We support Key Clubs in Ontario, Mansfield, St. Peters, and Madison, so a lot of those Key Clubbers are helping us in the serving area."

The Kiwanis Club does lots of work with local youth foundations and charities according to Grove.

"We focus on serving the children of the Richland County, Mansfield community," Grove said.  "One of the biggest beneficiaries of our club is the Friendly House here in Mansfield, so we are actually going to soon be trying to raise some money for them to buy a new transportation bus."

Grove was pleased with how many people came out to support the event.

"It's a fun day for us," Grove said.  "We've been doing this for more than 50 years many years at the Masonic Temple here in Mansfield and now about 7 years here at the fairgrounds."
