Bellville Man Facing Murder Charges After Mifflin Shooting

MIFFLIN TOWNSHIP, OH - 28-year-old Jordan J. Skoog of Bellville has been arrested and charged with murder following the fatal shooting death of Austin Smiley in Mifflin Township on March 20th.

Richland County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to 1665 Frontier Trail on the evening of March 20th to discover 19-year-old Austin Smiley dead with one gunshot wound. According to 911 audio released on Thursday, Smiley and Skoog may have been intoxicated and handling the gun at the time of Smiley's death.

Mifflin Fire, the Richland County Coroners unit, and the Major Crimes unit responded to the scene. Skoog will be arraigned at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, March 22nd at Mansfield Municipal Court.
