MANSFIELD, OH- The 2019 NC State College Hall of Excellence Awards Ceremony took place on Friday.

Jeff Gorman and Dr. Joseph Shadeed were both honored at this year's event.  Executive Director of The North Central State College Foundation, Chris Copper said that the honorees both make a significant impact in their communities.

"Jeff is the president of Gorman Rupp and he began here working with his father at the Gorman Rupp Company and kind of worked his way up," Copper said.  "He has had a huge impact on this community not only from the expansion of his organization into an international company, but also he worked very closely with RCDG which was the early iteration and development of our workforce here in Richland County."

Copper said that Shadeed is another hard-working philanthropist who has positively influenced the community.

"Dr. Shadeed is an Orthodontist and after he retired he was very instrumental in being a member and a leader of the Bucyrus High School Board of Directors," Cooper said.  "He as also very involved with initiating our Crawford Success Center which is a satellite college for North Central State College in Bucyrus, Ohio."

Overall, Cooper sees the Hall of Excellence as a way to celebrate all of the amazing progress being made by both NC State College and the wider community.

"We keep seeing every year more and more extraordinary things being accomplished in our communities as a result of these individuals.  I'd say the common thread is that they are visionary and they're determined and they do it in a way that brings people together and aligns them rather than dividing them."
