ASHLAND,OH- Ashland Elks Lodge 1360 held their annual Mother's Day breakfast on Sunday morning to help make the day special for local moms.

Past Exalted Ruler of the Ashland Elks Lodge, Tom Bray, helped to organize the event.

"This is approximately our 39th year for doing Mother's Day breakfast down here at the Elks Lodge," Bray said.  "We really like having all the mothers come in and we enjoy cooking for them. This is probably my 27th year running it and we just have a really great time with it and everybody loves to come down and have a nice buffet.

Bray was happy with the strong turn out at the event and estimated that around 150 people came to enjoy the breakfast.

"We do a full menu on the buffet.  It's homemade sausage gravy and biscuits, and hashbrowns, eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, french toast.  We try to put out a full menu with orange juice, tomato juice, everything."

Bray helped to prepare the breakfast food with six or seven other Elks members.

"The Elks care and the Elks share and that's what we're all about," Bray said.  "We love having the Mother's Day down here so they can have an enjoyable day and just relax."

At the event, mothers ate for free and received a carnation.  Bray hopes that the event helped to make Mother's Day special to mothers throughout the community.

"Happy Mother's Day to everybody out there," Bray said.  "I'm really happy that I'm still able to cook breakfast for my mother every morning.  She's sitting in the crowd right now, so happy Mother's Day to her especially."
