MANSFIELD, OH - As this year's "Ren Season" comes to a close, performers at the Renaissance Theatre are preparing to take to the stage with the final production this season with a wholly original performance.

"The Last Act," written by frequent Renaissance director Michael Thomas, is a musical based on Thomas' own mishaps and accidents in his theatre career. The production "explores and celebrates the urge to triumph in the face of adversity," featuring several regular performers from the Renaissance Theatre cast as "a slapdash crew of oddballs and misfits" who claw their way to the bottom as they perform what is possibly the worst musical ever written.

"I took all of the theatrical disasters that have happened when I've been onstage the last 35 years and tried to put them into one show," Thomas said. "I've been writing it on and off for a couple of years now and doing different versions of it, and put them all down on paper. It's brought back a lot of crazy memories."

The Last Act will be performed on May 17-18 at 8:00 PM and May 19 at 2:30 PM at the Renaissance Theatre's sister location, Theatre 166. For tickets, visit MansfieldTickets.com.
