MANSFIELD, OH - Parents, teachers, and members of the Mansfield community converged in the gymnasium at Mansfield High School Tuesday evening to discuss the open superintendent position with the Board of Education.

While no official decision has been made regarding the position of Superintendent, the Mansfield community seemed relatively united on the issue. Several attendees stood and spoke their support for Stan Jefferson, otherwise known simply as "Coach J."

While his was not the only name suggested during the open forum, he was spoken of highly by many attendees, some of whom brought signs that read "We want Coach J." A petition, signed by over 750 individuals, was brought in as an example of the huge community support behind Jefferson.

Community members asked the board to consider their decision carefully, some emphasizing the importance of local ties, others speaking of safety and mental health concerns. Although many topics were covered Tuesday evening, the common thread throughout everyone's speeches, including the school board's, is that the children in Mansfield come first.
