RICHLAND COUNTY, OH - The Richland County Sheriff's Office announced on Tuesday that the Crestview Schools Board of Education and the Sheriff's Office entered into an agreement to provide a full-time school resource officer to the Crestview School District for the 2019-2020 school year.

Deputy Leslie E. Horner graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 2006. After graduating, Horner enlisted with the United States Marine Corps, serving for over eight years before enrolling in the NCState Police Academy. Horner graduated the program in May 2018, and has worked with the Richland County Sheriff's Office since. Horner was selected to be Crestview Schools' SRO by Superintendent Randy Dunlap. The school district will pay 100% of the Deputy's wages for the school year while students are in session, while the Richland County Commissioners will pay for Horner's wages during periods in which he is not assigned to the school.

The Richland County Sheriff's Office is seeking to continue creating lasting partnerships with area schools and hopes to see more School Resource Officers in all county schools in the near future.
