Man Who Went Missing In Kokosing River Found Dead

KNOX COUNTY, OH - The Knox County Sheriff's Office have confirmed that they have located the body of a male who was lost in the Kokosing River. 

On Thursday, June 6th, 2019 at 5:04 PM, the Knox County Dispatch Center received a call concering a possible drowning on the Kokosing River near the Caves Campground. A group of four people were tubing on the river when the incident occured. 

Authorities were able to rescue a 42-year old female. The female was holding onto a branch in the river. 

40-Year-Old Mark Booth of Mount Vernon was also in the water, but authorities were unable to locate him on Thursday. Searches resumed Friday, and at approximately 10:45 AM, Booth was found along the riverbank approximately 4,500 feet downstream from where he was last observed.  

The Knox County Coroner's Office is assisting in the investigation. An autopsy is currently scheduled. 

Personnel from the Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District, the Ohio Special Response Team, Ohio Division of Watercraft, The Knox County Sheriff's Office, The Knox County Coroners Office, and Fredericktown Fire Department responded with dive teams and boats to search the area.
