MANSFIELD, OH - It is a collosal week in North Central Ohio with multiple events that will bring many thousands of new faces to Mansfield and surrounding areas.

For starters, today marks the kick off of two food festivals in North Central Ohio including the 17tth annual Lexington Blueberry Festival. The four-day festival will be jam-packed with hourly entertainment and events at community park including games, rides and fun for multiple age groups.

And, let's not forget about the blueberries, the star of the festival - pick up anything homemade from fresh blueberries to jams and pies.

Catch fireworks Saturday night at dusk and a parade on Sunday afternoon.

Today is also the start of the weekend Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival which in itself will draw many thousands to the area for the best brats, concessions, bands and games.

This festival offers what others don't including a pretty baby contest, to the men's hot legs competition and men's beard and mustache competition too.

The festival runs now through Saturday and will take up a large portion of Sandusky Avenue in downtown Bucyrus.

Come Friday, many additional thousands will converge on Mansfield for a very special welcome to the weekend for the 25th Anniversary celebration of the making of the movie , "The Shawshank Redemption" which has become a Hollywood favorite and was nominated for 7 Academy Awards. Surprisingly, it was not well received at the Box Office initially only making 18-million.

This also put Mansfield, Ohio on the map as much of the movie was filmed at sites around NCO and at our Ohio State Reformatory - better known as Shawshank Prison.

Based on the 1982 Stephen King movie origianally titled, "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption" it tells the story of banker Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), who is sentenced to life in Shawshank State Penitentiary for the murder of his wife and her lover, despite his claims of innocence. Dufresne over two decades, befriends a fellow prisoner, "Red" Redding (Morgan Freeman), and becomes key in a money laundering operation led by the prison warden.

Director Frank Darabont purchased the film rights to King's story in 1987, but development did not begin until five years later when he wrote the script over an eight-week period.

Warden Norton, Bob Gunton, confirmed many months back that he would gladly be here for the 25th anniversary where he spent a great deal of time on camera, in character.

Weekend appearances are expected to include: Shawshank Warden Norton played by Bob Gunton; Gil Bellows, Tommy; Mark Rolston, Bogs; Frank Medrano, Fat Ass, and many other actors including Scott Mann, Claire Slemmer, and Renee Blaine.  Alfonso Freeman, Morgan Freeman’s son, played the younger version of Red’s Mugshot in the movie – a cool fact some never knew.

Watch for additional pedestrians along the square in Mansfield and downtown and volunteers in safety green shirts.

There will be plenty of FREE opportunities to enjoy anything Shawshank this weekend and you can go to for the complete itinerary of sites to visit and who to watch for!
