ONTARIO, OH- Mansfield Jamfest: Bluegrass and Country Music Festival at the Richland County Fairgrounds is ready to rock out once again for the third year in a row, running Tuesday, August 20th through Saturday, August 24th.

Despite a name change, the event still serves its original purpose - helping those in need. Originally titled "Helping Families with Cancer Benefit Bluegrass Festival," the event is now known as "Mansfield Jam Fest," and the event continues to give back to families affected by cancer in the greater Richland County area.

Missy Smith and her husband, Chris, took over for Missy's father, who was the original founder of the festival in 2016. The pair have kept his mission going strong, continuing to plan the event to help those in the community. Missy's father was inspired after their family was hit hard by family members themselves being diagnosed with cancer, and wanted to do something for other families going through the same heartache.

Missy said it means the world to her to be able to carry on her father's vision for the event, and the opportunity to give back to the families struggling with a loved one going through cancer makes it worth everything.

This year, the event will be giving some of the proceeds to Project ONE-Recovery Road and a student attending a Mansfield middle-school, who was diagnosed with leukemia last November. The Mansfield chain of grocery-store giant Meijer was generous enough to donate $500 worth of gift cards to give to the family as well.

"If you have never heard of Bluegrass music or a festival... you have to come check it out," Smith said. "It's a family affair. You got kids playing, and kids playing music. We have a bouncy house and a kid area for the little ones."

Several bands that will be headlining the event this year include country and bluegrass favorites such as The Grascals, Flatt Lonesome, Carolina Blue, Sideline and Claybank, bringing a nice mixture of national, regional and locally-known bands to the festival.

Aside from the musical acts, the event will have a bingo night at Fairhaven Hall, a Hog Roast, and will offer discounted tours of Ohio State Reformatory and Kingwood Center Gardens.
